The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has come forward with a solution to the counterfeit document cases that are increasing in the country. This time, the new layout for driving license and certificate of registration has been introduced to keep a unified database of drivers and vehicles around the country. The new format will remain similar in all the states and will carry advanced features than the currently-issued cards that are even under complaints of fading away with time. The new driving license format will feature the blood group, issue date and emergency contact number of the person. The registration certificate will also feature all possible details regarding the vehicle, getting the same sort of technology as the driving license and keeping records of the vehicle for future references. The certificate will feature fuel and emission norms followed by the vehicle. The implementation of the same starts from October 1, 2019, while no date was mentioned for the existing users to switch from the older version to the new and highly-effective format. Also, the implementation of the same will help police track down those who are not using the right document by scanning the QR code that will be printed at the back of the document. The revenue collection will improve with this scheme as the first rule-breaking incident in one state can be the third one for that driver when taking into account his/her total record. The features like blood group and emergency contact number can help riders in case of an accident.
