BMW 5-Series will launch in India on June 29, 2017. Chennai facility of BMW has even started assembling the model as it will be brought through completely knocked down path. The 5-series BMW cars have always been a favorite among fans and company first started the local assembly in 2010.
The bookings for all new 5-Series started recently at a token amount of INR 2-3 lakh while deliveries will start somewhere around July 2017. BMW has made the new car in such a way that is weighs 100 kg less but still measures bigger than its predecessor.
BMW 7-Series inspiration can be seen clearly on the new car. It drives too good as most of the reviewers shared positive reviews regarding the drive quality and performance of the car. The list of added features on the car includes gesture control on infotainment system, four zone climate control, adaptive suspension, remote parking system and electrically adjustable seats.
BMW 5-Series M-Sport will not launch initially as they will bring it later into the Indian market. Rivals to the executive sedan includes Jaguar XF, Audi A6 and Mercedes E-Class.
The car could launch in three variants namely 520d, 530d and 530i. The first one is a 2.0 liter diesel motor that produces 187 BHP while 530d uses a bigger 3.0 liter V5 producing 261 BHP. The only petrol motor on offer will include a 2.0 liter, 249 BHP unit on the 530i.
Every variant of the car will get an 8-speed automatic gearbox as standard. This will definitely affect the popularity of Mercedes E-Class as the same segment engines have been used on the car. However, 5 Series can benefit through better pricing as it comes without extra wheelbase.
