The sales figures for the Harley-Davidson bikes have been decreasing year after year. Compared to the second quarter in the last year, the company sold 3,000 fewer bikes in the second quarter this year, globally. The company has reported a drop of 6.2% in net income in the first quarter of this year when compared to the first quarter of last year, and a drop of 6.41% in net income in the second quarter of this year versus the second quarter of last year. To keep the shareholders happy and boost the prices of the stocks, the company came out with announcements for a set of four upcoming launches in their lineup of bikes. One of the bikes to be launched is the Pan America 1250. Article imageHarley-Davidson’s latest announcement of the launch, scheduled in 2020, will be the company’s first step into the market for adventure touring bikes, a market that is already dominated by BMW Motorrad, Triumph Motorcycles, and Ducati Motor Holding S.p.A. And yet, the relentlessness of the company to step into the market is a bold move. They have given the world a small glimpse at the Pan America 1250, releasing a few pictures of the prototype. Article imageThe Pan America 1250 is a high-riding motorcycle. The fairing on the motorcycle draws inspiration from the Road Glide. Like other adventure touring bikes, the Pan America also gets spoke wheels with knobby tyres, up-swept exhaust, bash plate, tall windscreen and barkbusters. The bike draws its power from a 1250 cc liquid-cooled V-twin engine. The suspension duties are handled by inverted forks on the front and a monoshock linked to a die-cast swing-arm at the rear. No technical specifications of the bike have been revealed by the company as of now. Since the bike is scheduled for launch in 2020, there are hopes of a final production model to be ready by the end of the next year. The main competitors of the Pan America 1250 will be the Ducati Multistrada 1260 and the BMW R 1200 GS.
