In a bid to fight against the noise pollution, the Bengaluru Traffic Police has started issuing challans to the riders who own motorcycles with aftermarket, modified or loud exhausts. The fine amount is INR 2000 and the police is also removing the exhaust from the motorcycle.
As you can see in the videos below, the majority of the motorcycles are from the Royal Enfield Classic or Bullet series. The police is also not sparing the superbike owners this time, as a white Suzuki Hayabusa can also be spotted in the last video on this page.

Kerala Traffic Police is also preparing a campaign against two wheelers that use modified silencers. Illegal exhaust use is a big problem in Indian automotive world as riders are not fully aware of certain aspects that should be kept in mind before replacing the stock exhaust. Not all similar looking aluminum or titanium finished cans are equipped with enough filters that sound norms of Indian roads are not violated. Some don’t even have a filter at all. Branded exhausts are made in such a way that buyer is offered with better sound but keeping in mind emission and sound norms of the country. Some expensive brands are aware of this problem and they offer customizable filters for city and highway needs. It not just helps the bike stay quieter in city environment but also unleash class leading performance when revved on the highway. One should always consider certified brands when it comes to exhaust replacements. Many brands disclose decibel reading for their custom exhaust and thus, choosing the best sounding legal exhaust becomes easy.Ad
