Auto Expo 2018 is pretty ‘electrifying’. Well, you won’t get shocks into your body at the venue but manufacturers have gone steps ahead to promise electric powered vehicles for environment friendly riding experience. Menza Lucat, a purely electric motorcycle, was recently launched at Auto Expo for INR 2.79 lakh. The brand is an Indian startup that claims Lucat to be India’s first urban sport machine. It looks more like an impressive custom built motorcycle but for a change, the body panels are carved out of carbon fiber and engine seems to be replaced with a more capable electric motor. Clip on handlebar, beautiful spoke rims and twin tube swing-arm completes the package with elegance and practicality. Menza Lucat comes with a brush-less DC motor that produces 18 kW and 60 Nm of torque. The available battery pack makes it good for 100 kms in city driving and 150 kms on the highway. An everyday charging slot will take 4 hours while the fast charger take just 90 minutes to reach full battery capacity of the 6kWh, 72V Li-ion battery pack. - close upLucat claims 121 kmph of top speed while equipment list includes 300mm front and 230mm rear disc brake. Front tyre measures 110/70-17 while rear comes out to be 150/60-17. The front USD forks are sourced from WP. This makes the setup same as one sees in a KTM 390 Duke. With its all digital instrument console, Menza Lucat weighs just 153 kg. That makes it extremely handy as most electric vehicles available presently are loaded with heavy battery packs. Lucat also offers regenerative braking to save energy for additional kilometers in its overall range.
