Ather Energy, a Bangalore based start-up has unveiled India's first completely home-made electronic scooter – The Ather e-Scooter S340. The scooter comes with an Lithium Ion battery pack (IP67 rated) which offers a range of 60 kms and a life cycle of 50,000 km with a 5-6 year lifespan. The S340 also claims of having zero lateral weight offset, a low centre of gravity and light responsive LEDs.
Feature wise, the e-scooter is loaded with the latest gizmos including a touchscreen android-based dashboard, cloud based data service, drive modes, vehicle statistics & analytics and an over-the-air update mechanism. The S340 will only be available for purchase online via Ather Energy's website.
The company will set up experience centers in different cities where customers can test drive the scooter. Doorstep delivery and pickup will be offered by the company. The per-orders will of the S340 will start by second quarter of 2016, and scooter is expected to be priced less than 1 lac.
