Belrise Industries has signed a licence and technical-assistance agreement with Japan’s Yamato to develop and manufacture air filters, oil filters and resin air intake manifolds in India. Belrise gains exclusive India rights to manufacture and market the licensed products for automotive and industrial equipment manufacturers. Yamato will provide technical know-how and licensing support.

What the Yamato licence covers

The agreement covers design, development, testing and manufacturing. Air filters trap contaminants before they enter an intake system. Oil filters capture contaminants circulating in the lubricant. An intake manifold distributes air to the engine cylinders. These parts perform different jobs even when supplied as part of the same engine programme.

Why use resin in an intake manifold?

The technology transfer includes processes for replacing traditional metal manifolds with lighter resin designs. The benefit depends on the application. Manufacturers still have to validate the design for temperature, pressure, durability and fit before using it in a particular engine.

What the deal means for local sourcing

Belrise can develop and supply these components locally with Yamato’s engineering support. That creates a potential domestic sourcing option for equipment manufacturers. Belrise will pay technical-assistance fees and royalties, with the amounts undisclosed. The announcement gives no named customer programme, facility, production volume or start date. A customer nomination or manufacturing announcement would show where the technology will first be used.
