Bajaj Chetak Chic Electric Scooter Name Registered; Official Launch Soon

Bajaj Auto is all set to enter the electric scooter market by launching their new brand called Urbanite under which it plans on launching its new range of scooters. According to a recent report, the brand will be unveiling its first-ever e-scooter expected to christened as Chetak Chic Electric under the Urbanite brand. The brand has already sent out media invites for an upcoming launch event happening on October 16, 2019, which will see Nitin Gadkari, minister of road transport and highways and Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog, as the chief guests. The reports also suggest that the brand has registered the Chetak Chic Electric name for its upcoming scooter considering Chetak was one of the torchbearers of the brand’s scooter portfolio and had a good run for decades in the Indian market. The camouflaged test mules of the upcoming electric scooter from Bajaj has been in the news since long. In terms of the design, it looks sleek and features an attractive headlight (probably all-LED). The Urbanite scooter seems to be highly inspired by the retro design theme of the Piaggio Vespa. Though Bajaj has not confirmed anything about their upcoming scooter, it is expected that it would get modern features which will include an all-digital instrument console and it will probably also get e-SIM embedded connectivity feature, which will allow the users to keep a check on various details about the scooter via a smartphone app. One of the spy photos of the Chetak Chic Electric also reveals that it would feature a DRL tube around the main LED headlight, and we must say that it looks quite interesting. Also, it is rumoured that the front of the scooter will get a single-sided suspension and the recent spy shots did confirm it to an extent. Earlier in January this year, Rajiv Bajaj, the Managing Director of Bajaj Autos said that they would also be launching electric 3-wheelers under the same Urbanite brand name. Mr Sumeet Narang will head the Urbanite unit dedicated to electric vehicles in assistance of Mr Amit Nandi, head of Probiking business unit.
