Delays and Developments

Initially, Ather had announced its intention to launch its first electric bike within three to four years. Future Expectations

Ather is now aiming to unveil its electric bikes between 2027 and 2029. The new e-bike is expected to be a sporty commuter offering performance similar to a 150cc petrol-powered bike. The company is focusing on delivering a product that not only meets the performance expectations of riders but also aligns with its commitment to sustainability and innovation in the EV space.

Competition from Ola Electric

Ather's rival, Ola Electric, is also making strides in the EV market. The company is working on four electric bikes which were showcased at the Bharat GP. While Ola plans to launch its first electric bike by the end of 2024, the exact timeline remains uncertain. The competition between Ather and Ola Electric is expected to drive innovation and offer consumers a wider range of choices in the electric two-wheeler segment.

Market Dynamics

As the EV market matures, Ather's new bike is expected to be priced around Rs 2 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with models like the Tork Kratos R and Matter Aera, with the Revolt RV400 offering a more affordable alternative in this segment. The launch of Ather's electric bike is eagerly awaited by EV enthusiasts, as it promises to offer a blend of performance, style, and sustainability. The success of Ather's upcoming bike could have a significant impact on the adoption of electric two-wheelers in India and contribute to a greener, more sustainable future for mobility.
