Jeep Compass marked its debut in India 2 years back and the SUV recently got a diesel-automatic variant in the form of the Compass Trailhawk. This variant of the car is priced at INR 26.80 lakh, which is INR 3.70 lakh premium over the Limited Plus variant. The high price tag surely has disappointed a lot of buyers who were hoping for an affordable diesel AT variant. As per the latest details available, the company is expected to launch a cheaper diesel-automatic variant of Compass by Diwali this year.

Like the recently launched Trailhwak variant, the upcoming Jeep Compass model will also be BSVI-compliant with a 2.0-litre diesel engine, which is good enough to produce 173 HP of maximum power along with 350 Nm of peak torque. There will be a 9-speed torque converter automatic gearbox like the Trailhawk version.
However, there is still a doubt whether the diesel-automatic configuration will be available only on the Limited Plus variant or on mid-spec variants as well. Also, there are chances that the diesel-AT is likely to be available only with the front-wheel-drive models, to keep 4x4 exclusive for the Trailhawk variant.

Exact specifications and the equipment list for the car will only be available when this variant will be close to market launch. Currently, the base model for the
Jeep Compass starts at INR 15.60 lakh and goes up to INR 23.11 lakh for the Limited Plus variant. Right Now, the buyers have Mahindra XUV500, Volkswagen Tiguan, and the Hyundai Tucson as the premium options but now they will get one more option as the much more affordable diesel-automatic Compass is all set to launch in India soon.
