Maruti S-cross Petrol

About
The Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Petrol is a crossover that blends the best of both worlds between an SUV and a large hatchback. Launched in 2015, it has undergone significant changes, most notably the shift from diesel to a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine due to the discontinuation of diesel engines by Maruti Suzuki. The S-Cross features a simple yet effective design, a spacious and comfortable interior, and a well-tuned suspension that provides a smooth ride. It is available with both a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic transmission. The Smart Hybrid system enhances fuel efficiency and reduces emissions. With its balanced ride quality, neutral handling, and substantial space inside and in the boot, the S-Cross is an excellent choice for those seeking a practical, efficient, and hassle-free driving experience.

USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Petrol is a practical and sensible choice for those looking for a comfortable and efficient crossover. While it may not excel in outright performance, the 1.5-litre petrol engine, producing 105hp and 138Nm of torque, is more than adequate for everyday driving. The addition of a 4-speed automatic transmission, although not the most modern, works well in city conditions. The S-Cross shines in its ride quality, handling, and fuel efficiency, making it a great value-for-money proposition. However, it lacks some modern features and the turbocharged punch that some of its competitors offer. Overall, its a car you buy with your head, valuing its comfort, spaciousness, and reliability over raw performance.
Price
The Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Petrol is priced competitively in the Indian market. The ex-showroom prices start from around 9.81 lakh for the base Sigma variant and go up to 12.39 lakh for the top-of-the-line Alpha automatic variant. On-road prices, including taxes and other costs, can range from approximately 11.5 lakh to 15 lakh, depending on the state and city. This pricing makes the S-Cross an attractive option, especially when compared to its rivals like the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta, which are significantly pricier. The value-for-money aspect is a strong selling point, as you get a well-rounded package at a lower cost.
Latest Updates
Wednesday, 20 November 2024 07:37 AM Maruti Suzuki has discontinued the S-Cross petrol in India, replacing it with the new Grand Vitara. The S-Cross was priced between Rs 8.95 lakh and Rs 12.92 lakh at the time of its discontinuation. This move marks the end of an era for a vehicle that was once a popular choice in the compact SUV segment. I think this decision was necessary to make way for more modern and feature-rich models.
Wednesday, 05 August 2020 01:55 PM The 2020 Maruti Suzuki S-Cross petrol was launched in India on August 5, 2020, with prices starting at Rs 8.39 lakh. The vehicle came with a 1.5-litre K-Series petrol engine paired with SHVS mild hybrid technology and was available in both manual and automatic transmission options. This update was significant as it replaced the diesel engine, aligning with the BS6 emission norms. I believe this transition helped in improving fuel efficiency and reducing emissions.
Wednesday, 05 August 2020 05:53 PM The Maruti Suzuki S-Cross petrol was equipped with several notable features, including automatic climate control, cruise control, and a height-adjustable driver seat. These features enhanced the comfort and convenience of the vehicle, making it a compelling choice in its segment. I believe these features added significant value to the car.
Wednesday, 05 August 2020 07:00 AM The 2020 Maruti Suzuki S-Cross petrol had a claimed mileage of 18.43 to 18.55 kmpl, depending on the transmission option. This was a result of the efficient 1.5-litre K-Series petrol engine and the SHVS mild hybrid technology. I think the mileage was quite impressive for a vehicle in its class.
Wednesday, 05 August 2020 05:21 PM Maruti Suzukis decision to replace the diesel engine with a petrol engine in the S-Cross was a strategic move to comply with the BS6 emission norms. This change also reflected the companys focus on petrol engines in the wake of increasing regulatory pressures on diesel vehicles. I believe this was a forward-thinking move.
Tuesday, 04 August 2020 01:27 PM The 2020 Maruti Suzuki S-Cross petrol was spotted at dealership yards ahead of its launch, generating buzz among car enthusiasts. Saturday, 25 July 2020 06:53 PM The 2020 Maruti Suzuki S-Cross petrol came in four variants: Sigma, Delta, Zeta, and Alpha. Each variant offered a range of features, with the top Alpha variant being the most loaded. The vehicle also featured Marutis smart hybrid (mild hybrid) petrol powertrain, which was a major update from the previous model. I believe the variant options catered well to different buyer preferences.
Sunday, 26 July 2020 12:18 AM Before its launch, there was speculation about the pricing of the 2020 Maruti Suzuki S-Cross petrol. It was expected to be competitively priced, given the market dynamics and the features it offered. The actual prices were revealed during the launch, and they were in line with market expectations. I think the pricing strategy was well thought out.
Friday, 24 July 2020 10:45 AM In the lead-up to its launch, Maruti Suzuki started accepting bookings for the 2020 S-Cross petrol for a token amount of Rs 11,000. The new model retained its visual appeal from the previous diesel version but introduced several key updates, including the new petrol engine and mild hybrid technology. This move generated a lot of excitement among potential buyers. I think the booking process was smooth, indicating strong demand.
Monday, 30 January 2017 11:12 PM Maruti Suzuki discontinued the lower variants of the S-Cross with the 1.6-litre engine in 2017 due to a slump in demand. The more powerful 1.6-litre engine was then available only in the top Alpha variant. This decision was part of the companys strategy to manage its product lineup effectively. I think it was a necessary step to focus on more popular variants.

Space, Comfort & Practicality - It's all S-Cross Offers

I heard about Maruti's S-Cross and reached straight to the dealership for test drive. As I was waiting for this crossover from the day it was announced. First of all I will talk about its appearance, its looks are not so aggressive in comparison to its competitors. Even I would like to call it hatchback than an SUV. But this is not the end, I got surprised when I enter the car. The interior is just awesome with premium leather seats and leather touched gear knob, steering wheel and door pads. The space it offer is enough for the comfortable ride. In fact, S-Cross is the most spacious Maruti car I have ever seen. The driving seat is also designed to host 6 feet person comfortably where I mean it provides enough knee room. The boot space is also impressive which can easily carry huge luggage. So, I have decided to purchase one for me.
