Mahindra & Mahindra is considering a relaunch of the Logan, this time without the Renault branding. The company plans to revamp the model and possibly introduce a sub-4 metre version to compete in the compact sedan segment. This move could help Mahindra regain market share in the sedan category.

After the joint venture between Mahindra and Renault ended, Mahindra acquired Renaults stake and decided to continue manufacturing the Logan on its own. Since then, the sales of the Logan have seen a significant increase, with numbers doubling from 303 units in April to 752 units in July 2010. I believe this independent approach has allowed Mahindra to make more targeted decisions to boost sales.

The Mahindra Logan Play was launched with a reasonable price tag of Rs. 5.94 - Rs. 6.79 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This mid-sized saloon was part of Mahindras efforts to revamp the Logan brand and attract more buyers. I think this pricing strategy was a good move to make the car more accessible.
