That depends on the riding you do. A nippy 200cc would be better for city experience. The FZ25 still has an edge for mixed riding which includes highways.

It's definitely discontinued. Yamaha took it off their website and didn't update it for BS6 phase 2 norms. They are cutting their losses and going.

I think Yamaha is just regrouping. They wouldn’t abandon the 250cc segment entirely because the FZ25 was a solid bike. They must be working on a major overhaul.

Nah, it's gone. Sales of the FZ25 never really took off. Yamaha must be concentrating on their more popular models like the R15 and MT15.

Could be a temporary thing. Perhaps they are just clearing old stock in order to launch a new version. Something similar was done with other models before.

They were rumored to bring it back with a bigger engine, say 300cc, so it can compete with rivals. That'd be pretty sweet.

It's definitely dead. Yamaha couldn’t make the FZ25 stand out in a 250cc segment which is too crowded. If they don’t like them, they’ll stick to what works for them.

I'm optimistic. However, the FZ brand still has value and so they could be reworking it from the ground up to better suit today’s market needs.

The FZ25 was always a bit underpowered for a 250, let’s face it. It will need a serious performance boost if it comes back.

And my FZ25 just passed 100,000 km and is still going strong. If you take care of these things they're built like tanks.

Sure, it’s reliable, as are most bikes in this segment now. In the last few years, the Apache and Pulsar have stepped it up.

What works for the FZ25 is its simplicity. Fewer things to go wrong in the long run means less fancy electronics.

After about 50,000 km I've had issues with electrical gremlins on mine. It's not perfect but it's pretty reliable.

My FZ25 has been much less trouble than my friend’s Gixxer 250. An easier thing to maintain and it feels more solidly built.

The engine is bulletproof, I’ve heard of suspension issues cropping up over time. Still, nothing major.

It’s reliable but now it is a discontinued item and parts availability could be an issue. A consideration for long term ownership.

It's reliable but not an outlier; I'd say it's above average in reliability but the gap isn't as big as some FZ fans make it out to be. Bikes in general are pretty solid these days.

The biggest problem with early models is definitely the fueling. At low speeds it's jerky and city riding can be a pain.

Mine has been years with no major problems. As long as you keep up with regular maintenance it'll run forever.
