Will Yamaha Saluto 125 succeed?
Yamaha was long time due for a proper 125cc bike. But Saluto with its restrained yet smallish design will fail to bring the number. The fuel tank with odd profile look could be a negative factor. Power is equal to a 100cc bike. Overall Yamaha has failed from design and power point of view. It will fall flat like Yamaha's other 125 offerings. But quality of paint and finish look spot on.
The success of the Yamaha Saluto purely depends upon the way it will be marketed. No doubt, it has a ordinary design with some old school features and low engine power, but the reliability of the Yamaha engine can be a plus point for the manufacturer. How equally it is known to the masses will be responsible for its sale and what kind of offers Yamaha will provide for a good start up sale will decide its future. The 4-speed gearbox and 8.18 BHP sounds negative, but if the comfort rises, a city rider would neglect these for a easy ride.
