Will tubeless spoke wheels on the Goan Classic 350 be the first of many for Royal Enfield?
Royal Enfield has departed from its conventional use of tubed tires on spoke wheel models of its motorcycles with the introduction of tubeless spoke wheels on the Goan Classic 350. A highly requested feature from RE enthusiasts for years, this combines the classic look of spoked wheels with the practicality and ease of maintenance of tubeless tires. The inclusion of this feature on the Goan Classic 350 makes one wonder what Royal Enfield has in mind for its other models. Will they roll this technology out across their lineup, or will it be exclusive to special editions? And there is debate about the possible consequences for aftermarket modifications and whether this will lead other manufacturers that are also in the retro motorcycle segment. Since we've entered the era of interconnected vehicles, we realize that it is impossible to predict the future of technology and how it will affect society. One question that we try to address here is what the community thinks about the bigger implications that this feature may have for Royal Enfield and the entire motorcycle industry.
I really hope so! The best of both worlds, tubeless spokes are classic with modern convenience. I just hope RE didn't leave this off other models.
I'm skeptical. It may be that RE will want to keep this as a "premium" feature to offer on special editions, and therefore charge more for them. Even if it’s frustrating to consumers, it’s a smart business move.
This is about time RE offer this. We'll see it on the Bullet and other Classic variants within a year, I bet. They can't do that for too long without ignoring the demand.
It'll depend on how well the Goan Classic sells, I think. If it works, we'll definitely see tubeless spokes on other models. But if RE can't, it'll write it off as a failed experiment.
This could be RE testing the waters. Perhaps this is all part of testing the water using the Goan Classic to see how it goes, and iron out any kinks in a wider rollout.
I'm afraid that this will actually limit customization options. RE could kill the aftermarket for wheel conversions if they start offering tubeless spoke stock.
It's a step in the right direction but I hope they don’t stop here. Brands like Jawa and Yezdi are nipping at RE's heels, and so RE has to keep innovating to stay competitive.
