Off road enthusiasts are buzzing with rumors that the Mahindra XEV 7e, which will come with an all wheel drive (AWD) system. But there is disagreement as to whether or not this electric SUV can actually take on some serious off roading. But AWD alone doesn’t make a vehicle off-road capable, some argue, because there are other factors, such as ground clearance, approach and departure angles, and suspension travel. Some think that the electric motors instant torque would offer better traction in difficult terrains. And there's discussion about how the heavy battery pack might affect the vehicle's center of gravity and off road performance. Further, worries over the longevity of electric components in brutal off road conditions are being expressed.
