Will the Bajaj Blade 125’s high ground clearance actually offer any real use in India?
With 198mm of ground clearance, unusually high for a 125cc commuter bike, the Blade 125 is an impressive bike. It is on par with some adventure and off road focused motorcycles. If you live in India, where roads are often bad and there are many unexpected obstacles, you might appreciate having a little extra ground clearance. Of course, some say that the high clearance on a small commuter bike is overkill, and could negatively affect handling and stability. The question is whether the average Indian rider will actually use or need this feature in day to day riding or whether it is a marketing gimmick.
Absolutely! Have you seen our roads? In monsoons, that extra clearance will be a lifesaver.
It's overkill. A wheelbase that’s too long will make the bike feel taller and less stable, and most riders won’t need that much clearance.
I think it could be useful but I’m worried about the center of gravity being too high for a beginner friendly 125cc.
It's a smart move by Bajaj. While you may not need it often, it’s nice to have when you hit a nasty pothole.
It might be good for tier 2/3 cities, but in metros, it’s unnecessary. Instead, they should have focused on better suspension.
I like it. Even if it is just psychological, it gives the bike a more capable, go anywhere vibe.
It's a gimmick. If you need that much clearance you shouldn't be on a 125cc commuter.
