Will the Afeela 1’s entertainment centric features hit or miss?

The Afeela 1 is about more than just a car – it will be all about in vehicle entertainment and connectivity. With Sony's involvement, the public expects the highest audio visual experience, with Epic Games Unreal Engine included for powerful graphics capabilities. The prototype that was shown off at CES had a massive dashboard display and the ability to play console quality games while parked. It appears that this approach is aimed at tech enthusiasts and early adopters who want the very latest in digital experience in their vehicles. But whether this focus on entertainment will translate for the broader luxury car market remains to be seen, where performance, comfort and brand prestige are still the name of the game.

It's gonna be a hit for sure. In car entertainment will become increasingly important as we progress towards autonomous driving. Afeela could have a major advantage thanks to Sony's expertise in this area.

Miss. Cars are bought to drive, not to play games. This is just a gimmick that will get tired of quickly. For that price, I would prefer better range or performance.

I think it'll be polarizing. Traditional luxury car buyers might be turned off, but tech geeks will love it. That really depends on how well they execute the whole package.

Could be a sleeper hit. And if the autonomous driving tech is solid, a mobile entertainment center could be pretty amazing for long trips or commutes.

I’m skeptical, but it’s an interesting concept. First, Tesla already has games and entertainment features, and people aren't buying them for that reason.

I'm cautiously optimistic. There are so many opportunities if they can truly create a unique, immersive experience that redefines what we want from the car interiors.

They're trying too hard to be different, it seems. I'd rather see that R&D money spent on improving the core EV tech of range and charging speed.
