Will the ABZO VS01 kick off a custom electric motorcycle culture in India?

India has a long tradition of motorcycle customization, from the Royal Enfield based cafe racers of Mumbai to the elaborately painted Bullets of Punjab. Most of these modifications have to do with engine tunings, exhaust systems, and other mechanical parts. While the ABZO VS01 is electric, which means you have a whole new canvas to customize. When there’s no combustion engine, traditional mods like air filters and exhaust pipes are pointless. But the opportunity for customization moves away from things like engine upgrades, to battery upgrades, motor tuning, and advanced electronics. Could this be the start of a new wave of electric motorcycle modding in India? Will we see VS01s with extended range batteries, custom digital displays, or possibly even bodywork that’s rebodied completely? This new form of customization could change the motorcycle culture in India, and what challenges would custom electric bike builders face with regulations and safety?

Absolutely! I can already picture some seriously wild LED light setups and custom digital displays. The VS01 could act as a rolling tech showcase.

Customization is going to be a whole new world. People won’t be competing for the coolest exhaust notes, but for the coolest motor whine or the most efficient battery setup.

I'm skeptical. The hands on, mechanical side of bike modding culture is a big part. But working with high voltage systems is not a job for your average garage tinkerer.

It could actually make customization more accessible. Mods could be done to change both power delivery and regen braking strength without any mechanical skills.

I believe we’ll witness a split in the custom scene. Traditional petrol heads will stick to combustion engines, but a new breed of tech savvy modders will be attracted to the electric platform of the VS01.

3D printing will be the real game changer. Ever thought of designing and printing custom body panels for your VS01 in your own home? That's the future of bike customization.

I am excited about range extensions. Imagine a VS01 with a secondary battery cleverly integrated inside for those long touring trips.

There is going to be a steep learning curve for custom builders. They're not just about aesthetics anymore, they'll have to understand electrical systems, battery chemistry, and motor controllers.

There's a future I can see where swappable 'personality modules' are a thing. Think about a plug and play unit that would change the character of your whole bike, from cruiser to sport mode.

Software could very well be the next place we see the customization scene shift to. Instead, we could expect a market for custom riding modes, power delivery maps and even sounds that are played through external speakers.
