Why does the RS250 have a headlight?

I love the RS250's headlight! It sure does look badass and lights up the road like a Christmas tree. My old bike made night riding feel so much less safe. It may be something of an overkill for city use, but on pitch black highways, it truly is a godsend. It also makes the bike stand out from a sea of boring generic headlights.

In all honesty, I believe the headlight is more style than substance. The light spread for city riding isn’t great, but yeah – it looks cool. It has weird shadows and blind spots but it does take some getting used to. Then there is the high beam, which is always pointed at the sky. I always go for form over function.

The headlight is ok, but not problem free. After riding in heavy rain, I’ve had problems with condensation building up inside. Apparently, it's a common problem. Bajaj should've sealed it better. I have not seen it affect performance yet, but it worries me about longterm reliability.

I, as someone who upgraded the headlight on their RS250, can confirm that the stock setup is decent, but not great. The high beam is very disappointing, but the low beam is okay. I had installed some auxiliary lights, and now it's perfect. Unless you are serious about night riding, you are going to spend some cash.

The headlight is made too big a deal about. Mostly it’s quite adequate for most riding situations. Is it the best out there? No. But it's far from the worst. The bike’s character alone is added to by the unique design. In addition, I have never had problems seeing or being seen on the road.

I have ridden both and for my opinion, the Gixxer SF 250 is more refined. Generally the engine is smoother, and there is a slight increase in the overall quality of the build. Now the RS250 looks more aggressive but when it comes to riding experience, the Gixxer takes the cake for me. It is just more comfortable to use daily.

There is no way, RS250 is definitely winner here. It’s more characterful and more fun to ride. The Gixxer is smooth and sure, but boring. Also, Bajaj has a huge service network, which is a boon for long term ownership. If that matters to you, you're surely turning more heads as well with the RS250.
