The first KTM bike was invented by an Austrian Johann Trunkenpolz, who back in 1951 first produced the bike named R100. The word KTM stood for Kronreif & Trunkenpolz Mattighofen. The roots of the company could be traced even back in 1934 when the founder used to service diesel engines. The first production bike, R100 was ready for mass production with a team of 20 persons, making out 3 bikes a day. The company grew positively with time and now it expands its business nearly all over the world and is a renowned name in racing leagues and championships. The first bike was a 100 cc petrol engine.
