Which of the budget sedans holds up well in the long run?

by @ashutosh.kumarover 1 year ago0 views7 answers
Long term reliability is always a big factor for buyers of budget friendly sedans. While the Nissan Sunny has been around for a while, how does it shape up against its rivals in this all important area? I’m sure that there are some common issues that Sunny owners run into after a few years of ownership, so what are some of them? I will draw a parallel here between Sunny’s reliability and other widely sold budget sedans such as Honda City, Hyundai Verna or Toyota Yaris. What makes Sunny more or less reliable for the long haul? Factors that could apply include anything from availability and cost of spare parts to how often major repairs fall due, or whether the car can cope with high mileage without too many problems. The Sunny's long term reliability may be very helpful for giving potential buyers an informed decision.

The interior materials don't hold up very well over time and it's reliable enough, but not as much so as the original. After a few years expect lots of rattles and worn out bits.

Reliability is fine, but the Sunny’s resale value lags far behind its competition. Something to keep in mind for long term ownership.

The diesel engine in the Sunny is very robust. That's the way to go if you're looking for long term reliability.

I'd say it's average. They're not as bulletproof as a Toyota, but they're far superior than some of the budget European options.

Sunny’s reliability is good enough but parts availability is a problem for the car, more so than other popular cars such as the Honda City.

Sure, it’s reliable, but so are most Japanese cars these days. The question is if after 5+ years it is as much fun to drive as the competition.

The Sunny is pretty bullet proof in my experience. I've seen these things on the road running as taxis with over 300,000 km on the clock and still going.
