What would you change about the Alfa Romeo 8C Spider if you could?
There’s no question that the Alfa Romeo 8C Spider is an automotive design and engineering masterpiece. But, as is the case with any car, there are some areas this Italian beauty could do better according to some enthusiasts and critics. These could be potential changes in performance, comfort or, yes, even in the design itself, which is iconic. Given the car’s pedigree and small production run, any atypical adjustments would have to be very thought out to keep it true to itself and remain valuable. The question here is how can we improve upon this already outstanding vehicle, honoring its original vision while having the benefit of hindsight and advancing technology.
I'd improve the infotainment system. By modern standards, it’s dated and clunky.
Nothing major, but I would add a manual transmission option. That V8 needs a proper stick shift.
Better cup holders! It's annoying on long drives, but sounds trivial.
I would make the suspension a bit more compliant. It is rough on rough roads.
Improve the fuel efficiency. Sure, it's a supercar but the range is pretty pathetic.
Add some modern driver aids. It would be more daily drivable with things like adaptive cruise control.
Redo the roof mechanism as fully automatic. The current semi-manual operation feels outdated.
I wouldn't change a thing. Flaws and all, it’s perfect as it is. That's what gives it character.
Update the electronics. They’re the weak point and the source of most of the reliability issues.
Make it more track-focused. It's gorgeous, but it's a bit too pretty for better performance.
