What long-distance adventure trip modifications would you make to the XRE 300 Sahara?
The Honda XRE 300 Sahara is a capable adventure bike off the shelf, but there are some modifications that can be made to help it be an even better long-distance touring bike. For the most part, riders planning extended trips will customize their bikes for greater comfort, carrying capacity, protection, and overall performance. The modifications can be as simple as a luggage system or windscreens or as complex as changing the engine or suspension. The modifications are usually chosen depending on which type of adventure the rider is planning to carry out and what are his needs are. Others emphasize off-road capability, yet others emphasize on-road comfort for long highway stretches. It’s been a well-discussed topic on adventure riding forums and social media groups onmodifying the XRE 300 Sahara for long-distance travel and what riders have done or what works or doesn’t.
I’d start with a bigger fuel tank, first things first. The stock range isn’t bad, but if you’re looking for real adventure riding, you want to go further between fill-ups. Then a bit of good crash bars and a skid plate to protect.
