What is the Tata Safari’s build quality like relative to its competitors?
As a vehicle, the Build Quality plays a very crucial role as it is being positioned in the premium SUV segment and the Tata Safari is one of it. One thing several owners have commented on is the Safari's build quality—occasionally good (solid feel), occasionally questionable (inconsistent panel gaps, interior fit and finish and reliability). In this price bracket, the Mahindra XUV700, Hyundai Alcazar and MG Hector Plus all have a reputation for build quality. The discussion usually revolves around whether Tata has been able to meet or surpass the benchmarks set by more established players in market and whether the occasional quality problems reported are just teething problems or the sign of deeper problems.
So far, I’ve seen the build quality of the Safari's vary. There are some units that seem rock solid, but there are other units with weird panel gaps and rattles. That's not up to par with the Germans.
