What is the performance of Chetak 2903 TecPac compared to traditional petrol scooters?
As an electric scooter, power and torque are delivered differently from that of a traditional petrol scooter, the Chetak 2903 TecPac. With its electric motor, it can supply an instant torque, which means quick acceleration from a standstill. But it has a top speed of 63 km/h, less than some petrol scooters on the market. It is also different experience of riding, with no gear shifts and more silent operation. What does this change in performance and how it feels to ride compare to the petrol scooters that riders are used to? What are the advantages of the electric powertrain in city traffic? Is the limited top speed of highway rides a big negative for those who enjoy the occasional highway ride?
It's a game changer in city traffic by the instant torque. Petrol scooters can’t zip away from signals or navigate through gaps nearly as easily as you can.
I miss a petrol engine for the sound and the vibration. Even if it’s more efficient, the Chetak feels a bit soulless in comparison.
It’s a bummer that the top speed is limited. On open roads or highways, you feel restricted, but it’s fine for the city. I just wish they’d bump it up to at least 80 km/h.
It’s great performance-wise for commuting. The linear power delivery moves smoothly, a relaxing feature when stuck in traffic. It is not as exciting as a petrol sporty scooter.
In fact, I like the electric performance more. It has no clutch, no gears, you just twist and go. This makes riding in stop and go traffic much less tiring.
It takes some getting used to it being silent, but I love it now. Especially on early morning rides, it’s so much more peaceful.
The Chetak is good enough to keep up with most 125cc petrol scooters for pure acceleration. The difference doesn't really show up until you're going a higher speed.
