What is the greatest misconception regarding the Aston Martin DB9?
That it's unreliable. It’s not Toyota level bulletproof, but if you take care of it, it’s actually quite reliable. Most of the issues are due to neglect or trying to save on services.
People believe that it’s a hardcore sports car. It's not. It's a pretty quick grand tourer. If you expect Ferrari performance, then you miss the point of the DB9.
That it is too expensive to maintain. It’s not a money pit, it’s pricier than a normal car, but that’s not what makes it a money pit. Costs are much more reasonable if you find a good independent mechanic.
The back seats are usually considered useless by people. Yes, they are small, but they are ideal for kids or additional storage. Most give it credit for being more practical than it is.
That it’s all show and no go. The DB9 may not have the highest horsepower numbers, but it's quick enough and sounds incredible while doing so.
It’s assumed as a nightmare to drive in the city. It's actually quite manageable. The visibility is decent but not as wide as some other luxury sports cars.
That all DB9s are the same. It went through quite a few changes during its production run and the later models are substantially improved in terms of tech and performance.
It is a car that you can’t use regularly, according to some. Mine was driven daily for years without any problems. It's comfortable, reasonably practical and built to be driven, not just admired.
