What is the fuel consumption of the Ashok Leyland Dost Lite LE in real conditions?

A commercial vehicle’s versatility is a huge selling point for businesses with particular or changing needs. As a platform for several small business applications, the Ashok Leyland Dost Lite LE is sold; how customisable is it? Others owners praise its adaptability and how they have easily adapted it for everything from refrigerated transport to mobile shops. Some, however, contend that because the vehicle is so compact, that limits customization options that you can perform in a much larger vehicle. Further debate exists on official Ashok Leyland modifications vs non official (after market) solutions and the impact these have on warranty and re sale value. Furthermore, there are some users that are worried about the structural integrity of the vehicle with heavy modifications. Now let’s see how flexible Dost Lite LE is for various business applications through the eyes of real world experiences of Dost Lite LE owners who have customized their vehicles.

The Dost Lite LE has a better fuel efficiency than I expected. On my regular city routes, I get 18–19 kmpl on a regular basis, which is almost as good as what Ashok Leyland claims. Fortunately, it sure does help my bottom line.

Honestly, I'm a bit disappointed. In mixed driving, I am only getting about 15–16 kmpl which is less than what I had expected. Perhaps I had too high hopes, but it’s not as fuel efficient as I wanted.

That actually depends upon how you drive and maintain the car. I have found that the tires have to be properly inflated and excessive acceleration should be avoided. I am driving carefully to get an average of 17-18 kmpl.

The Dost Lite LE is a decent performer in city rides, but it is not the most efficient on highways. I am getting about 18-19 kmpl in the city and around 16-17 kmpl on long highway hauls.

I believe that the fuel efficiency is very good for a car of this class. Yes, it's not making history, but for the fuel economy, I’m saving a huge amount of money than the Tata Ace I used to own.

I have been quite impressed with how easy it has been to customize my Dost Lite LE. We are a mobile coffee shop and were able to fit a compact espresso machine and all our gear without any major modifications. The flat load bed is a good starting point.

Nice for basic customizations, but I got stuck after more complex setups. I was wanting to install a refrigeration unit and it was a bit of a pain to get everything to fit without compromising the structure of the vehicle.

The Dost Lite LE is great for a florist because it is so adaptable. They are perfect for our mobile flower shop and we installed some simple shelving units and a small water tank. In fact, having the compact size is actually good for us when setting up at markets and events.

People believe it is too customizable, I think. You can definitely do some basic mods, but if you need anything more highly specified you're going to want a larger vehicle. As my business continued to grow, I ultimately traded it for a bigger truck to accommodate my needs.

Customization has been hit and miss for me. The official Ashok Leyland mods are great but there are only so many options. You have more options going aftermarket, but you can get hit or miss with regards to quality and fit.
