What is the build quality of the VF3 in comparison to other budget EVs?
Any vehicle, particularly within the budget EV segment where compromises have to be made to keep costs low, needs to be built well. However, VinFast VF3 was slammed by many for what they saw as its low build quality, evident even with parts falling off and structural problems. But we do have to compare it fairly to other vehicles in its class and price range. Are the VF3 problems unique to the VF3 or are they common to budget EVs? How do we evaluate this electric car against other entry level electric cars like the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV or any other electric cars? Is the criticism warranted, or are people setting the bar too high for a device at the price point?
So far as I can tell, the quality of build on the VF3 is pretty much in line with the rest of the budget EVs. You get what you pay for, and at this price point, don’t expect luxury.
No way, man. I've seen videos of VF3s where parts are actually falling off. Even for budget cars, that's not normal. This is next-level bad.
It’s definitely rough around the edges, but all first-gen products from new companies are. Let them have time to work out the kinks.
The trouble is, vehicles shouldn't be allowed to be 'rough around the edges'. It's not a smartphone, it's something that can kill you if it fails.
The VF3 feels solid, compared to something like the Wuling Mini EV. It's not made of tin foil at least.
It’s not just about how solid it feels. It's about longevity. It's about safety. In those areas, though, the VF3 is seriously lacking.
I believe that people are forgetting that even big brands had quality issues when they first started making EVs. The VF3 isn’t bad but it’s not unique in being bad.
