What is the best sound and performance exhaust upgrade for the FZ 10?
One of the most popular FZ 10 upgrades is a new exhaust system, which gives more sound and performance. What is interesting about this topic is the fact that it causes some heated debates in the motorcycle community, where riders compare which ones have advantages and disadvantages. Topics that are discussed include sound quality, weight reduction, potential power gains and overall value for money. There are riders who want the loudest pipes you can get, and others who prefer the subtlest improvement in tone. We also look at whether certain exhausts need ECU remapping or the installation of a fuel controller for best performance. Riders discuss the merits of lesser known or more budget friendly options, as well as the popular brands like Akrapovic, Yoshimura, and SC Project.
Akrapovic all the way. It's expensive, yes, but the sound is what it should be, deep and throaty without being annoying. But the titanium also saves a ton of weight.
The Yoshimura R77 is one I like. It sounds great, provides decent performance gains and it's cheaper than some of the premium options. You can't go wrong with Yoshi quality.
I would honestly say the stock exhaust with the baffle removed sounds pretty good. You'll feel the difference with suspension upgrades or better tires - save your money for those.
SC Project for me. It's as loud as hell and looks badass. Just make sure you’re ready to be hated by your neighbours.
I decided to go with a full system from Black Widow. The sound and performance gains are impressive, but it’s a fraction of the cost of the big names. Don’t sleep on the budget options either!
Whatever you get, be sure to buy a good fuel controller like a Power Commander. If you don't tune your engine properly, you're wasting performance, and you're risking damaging the engine.
I can call me crazy, but I do love the Leo Vince slip on. It sounds unique, and it's not ridiculously expensive.
I'm running the M4 exhaust and could not be happier. It didn't break the bank, it had great sound, and it was noticeable that it saved weight. It’s also not as common as some of the other brands, so you’ll stand out a little more.
Unpopular opinion: keep it stock. That crossplane engine already sounds great in the FZ-10, and you don’t have to worry about running into any warranty stuff or legal stuff with noise regulations.
