What is the Aprilia Tuono 660 like to tour on?
The Aprilia Tuono 660 comes under fire for not being capable of being a long distance touring machine, despite the Aprilia Tuono 660 being lauded for its sporty handling and city friendly ergonomics. The naked bike design, with its minimal wind protection, is debated by riders regarding its suitability to extended highway miles. There are other key factors: such as seat comfort, fuel range, luggage options, and the fact that you can be tired for long rides. There are owners that have modified their Tuono 660s to make them better for touring and others that like to keep it stock to use as the sporty naked bike it was meant to be. In this article, we will look at different points of view on riding the Tuono 660 on longer rides and how it stacks up against other touring bikes.

I tour on mine regularly. It’s not a Gold Wing, but it’s a lot more fun on the backroads you’ll want to explore.

The biggest issue is the fuel range. On long trips it's annoying having to stop every 120-150 miles.

Sport touring is perfect for it. It's light enough to be fun in the twisties, yet comfortable enough for all day rides.

I’d prefer to have a dedicated touring bike. While the Tuono 660 is fun, it’s not a bike built for covering big miles in comfort.

I put a taller windscreen and comfort seat. It's great for long trips now. Long stretches are a breeze with the electronics.

It's not ideal for touring. After a couple hours on the highway, the lack of wind protection gets tiring.

I’ve done a 1000 mile weekend on my Tuono 660. It's surprisingly capable with a tail bag and tank bag. It's a lot easier when you have an upright position.
