What is it that makes some riders prefer the KTM 1190 RC8 R over more popular Japanese superbikes?

However, the motorcycle market is dominated by well-known Japanese brands, famous for their reliability as well as their performance. But some riders are attracted to lesser-known options, like the KTM 1190 RC8 R. One reason for this preference is that bikes have a unique character; they are exclusive, and they are European-engineered. Unlike most Japanese superbikes, the RC8 R’s V-twin engine is a completely different riding experience. In addition, KTM is well known for off-road racing, and the way they build street bikes appeals to those who want something different than the norm. It's a common motorcycle enthusiast's debate: choosing a more popular, proven platform or a less common one, but one that has the potential to be more exciting.

That V twin torque is all it's about. It’s just more exciting to have power delivery than an inline four.

It’s just plain and simple exclusivity. And you don’t see RC8 Rs on every corner like you do GSX Rs or R1s.

The adjustability is a huge part of it. With Japanese bikes you can't really make them fit you perfectly, but you can with this bike.

It's the character. The RC8 R is great, but Japanese bikes feel a bit soulless.

Abhinav on 07 December 2024 18:21
This translates to a more flickable, agile superbike, off-road experience. In the corners it feels more alive.

Reena on 15 December 2024 07:53
Tall riders will find the RC8 R much more comfortable than most Japanese superbikes.

It's a conversation starter. At bike meets, everyone wants to talk to you about it.

Barun on 27 December 2024 15:26
It's a more pure riding experience, because there is no electronic aids. No computer between you and the bike.

Vibhu on 29 December 2024 07:23
Build quality is top-notch. For a mass produced Japanese bike, it feels more premium.

It's the underdog factor. Riding a bike that isn't the obvious choice is kind of cool.
