What changes do 990 Super Duke R owners make to improve performance or the ride?

by geeta kumariover 1 year ago0 views8 comments
Stock KTM 990 Super Duke R is impressive, but the bike has become a favorite among customizers and performance nutters alike. Many owners aim to unlock more power, make the bike handle better, or get the bike to suit their riding style. They can be anything from an OLT-on part to full engine work. Some riders are looking to improve on the bike’s already potent performance, some want to make it more comfortable for long-distance riding, and some just want to fix what they consider to be shortcomings of the stock setup. The topic of this question is the most popular and the most common modifications done to the 990 Super Duke R and how they affect the riding experience.

It is equipped with a Power Commander and a custom tune. Proper fueling makes the bike run so much smoother.

Comfort mods are underrated. An adjustable rearset and a better seat made my 990 more enjoyable for longer rides.

I added a quick shifter. It’s not required, but it does make the bike feel more modern and is great for spirited riding.

Brake lines and pads make a huge difference when they’ve been upgraded. The stock brakes are good, but these mods elevate them up a notch.

I honestly think it’s best left stock. So, KTM engineers knew what they were doing.

I went with Öhlins suspension. It changed the handling, particularly for track days.

ECU flash is a must. Adds a bump in power and smooths out the throttle response.

The first thing I did was get rid of the stock exhaust and put on a full system. But it just wakes the bike up, and the sound is incredible.
