What are the Yamaha FZS V4 Deluxe vibration levels compared to their predecessors and competitors?
Rider comfort is a major factor, particularly for those who spend long hours on their bikes every day, and vibration is a prime factor. Over the years, the Yamaha FZS series has progressed and each time promises to bring improvements in the engine refinement and vibration control. There is no small amount of interest in how well Yamaha has addressed this issue with the FZS V4 Deluxe. Riders are comparing their experiences, talking about at what speeds the vibration become noticeable, how it affects longer rides, and whether the vibration levels are acceptable for a bike in this segment. Others are questioning if the vibration characteristics help make the FZS V4 Deluxe more 'connected' to the road or if they take away from it. It is the subject of comparisons with other popular bikes in the 150-160cc category and if Yamaha has been able to find the right balance between performance and comfort.
The older models are way smoother than the FZS V4 Deluxe. I don’t get that annoying buzz in my hands when I ride for hours.
But it’s better, not as smooth as the Honda SP 160. At 80-90 km/h you can feel a few vibes coming in.
I think the vibrations give it character, honestly. You don't feel uncomfortable, you feel more connected to the bike.
It is noticeable coming off the V3. It's not totally vibe free, but it's much nicer on long rides now.
I did test ride both the FZS V4 and the Apache RTR 160 4V. With a Yamaha there is definitely less vibration at higher speeds.
It's a single cylinder engine, still, but it's a smoother ride than before. Some vibration is part of the experience and some is inevitable.
The vibrations are good for city use, but on highways they can get a bit tiring after an hour or so. Not a deal-breaker, though.
In fact, I much prefer the slight vibrations. It makes me feel as if I am actually riding a real bike, rather than some soulless machine.
