What are the customization options available in terms of specific business needs for the Ashok Leyland Dost Plus LS?
The Dost Plus LS is surprisingly customizable. I included a refrigeration unit for my dairy business, which worked out great. The extra weight fed into the vehicle and it took it well and it didn’t as hard on fuel efficiency as I was afraid it would.
Customisable options are ok to some extent, but not cool enough. I was looking for a specialized rack system for my plumbing business and it was quite a hassle to find compatible parts. Had to get some custom fabrication done in the end.
I would say it is about working with Ashok Leyland approved customizers. I did that during my food truck conversion and it turned not only came out good, but didn’t void my warranty.
You can customize it, but it’s another expensive flavor store. In my appliance repair business, I added a hydraulic lift which is super useful but purchase cost was more than what I was planning for.
I've had mixed results. Adding a canopy or cargo barriers was easy. However, when I attempted to add a more complex electrical system for my mobile office setup, it got complicated real fast.

It is OK, but not as good as a couple of the most renowned brands. I found that the buyers were a little bit shy because of the spare parts availability. However, the lower price point makes up for that.
I have found the resale value to be surprisingly good in my experience. I think that is because the Dost has earned a reputation of being reliable. Within a week I had multiple interested buyers when I sold mine.
That really depends on whether you take good care of it. I kept mine in top condition and when I sold it after four years, I sold it for almost 60% of what I paid for it. Not bad at all!
The resale value has been a little bit hit or miss. It sells well in urban areas where people need mileage. However, I have seen people in rural areas who prefer other brands they are more familiar with.
The Dost Plus LS appears to be a better retaining of value car than my old Tata Ace. I think this is because of the lower running costs, as the buyers realize they will save on fuel and maintenance.
More people are getting familiar with the brand, and as such, the resale market is getting better. I had a bit of concern about resale, but by the time I sold mine, Ashok Leyland had a good name.
I believe that the key here is to go for popular configurations. Dost didn’t fetch as good a price as my friend’s refrigerated version. It seems that specialized units are in greater demand.
In my area, the Dost Plus LS actually does better in resale than some of the competitors. I believe this is because it’s thought of as a more up to date and better way of doing things. So mine, after 2 years of brutal usage, was yet sold for less than 20% off the purchase price.
