Dodge Vipers are a popular car to modify, and you’ll find as many debates as there are owners and enthusiasts about which upgrades give you the best bang for the buck. Most of these discussions include weighing engine mods for more power versus handling and brake upgrades for better overall performance. However, some say that the Viper's stock power is already plenty, that suspension, tires and driver aids give better real world results. Some argue that the whole point of having a Viper is to unleash the full potential of it's V10 engine. It often discusses the difficulties of altering an incredibly high performance vehicle without upsetting the car’s fine balance or reliability. They talk about performance gains, but more than anything they talk about how various mods change the character and drivability of the car. This then leads to philosophical debates about whether or not to keep the Viper's raw nature intact, or to embrace modern performance technologies.

Tires, tires, tires. The car is transformed by a good set of sticky rubber. Everything else is secondary.

Track use really benefits from cooling mods. Better heat management unlocks a lot of potential in these cars that run hot.

It’s all about a good suspension setup. With coilovers and sway bars the car can be a lot more composed without ruining the ride.

Driver mod is honestly the best mod. Train and time track. A modded Viper will get smoked by a novice, a stock Viper by a skilled driver.

Exhaust and headers. It's not a huge amount of power gain but the sound is amazing. It also helps with heat issues.

Upgrades to brakes are underrated. Pads and rotors are better, and let you push harder for longer, especially on track.

Older gens can benefit a lot from newer tech like traction control.

If you’re serious about performance, weight reduction. The Viper's not light, so every pound you lose is a pound that doesn't have to go with the Viper.
