Personalizing rides is something that motorcycle enthusiasts often enjoy and the Continental GT 650 is a great platform to work from. The bike is a classic looking and relatively simple engineering bike that is appealing to both cosmetic and performance upgrades. Modification commonly happens in the exhaust system, suspension components, and ergonomic changes in terms of handlebar and seat. Whether it’s adding period correct accessories to enhance the retro aesthetic or engine tuning or brake upgrades to improve performance, some riders do it all. The base bike is also affordable, so owners will have more money left to customize as compared to pricier motorcycles. But it also brings up questions like, which modifications provide the best bang for the buck, and which ones could hurt the reliability or resale value of the bike.
The first thing I did was change out the exhaust. The stock one is too quiet and doesn't quite do the engine justice.

I just put some protection bits on – crash bars and a sump guard. The best mod for me is peace of mind.
Dyno tuning made the vehicle noticeably smoother and far smoother. Highly recommend it.
Keep it stock! Mods usually ruin the original character that makes the bike special, and the bike is perfect as it is.
