The Royal Enfield Roadster 650 is another 650 twin, or it changes the game?
The 650cc lineup from Royal Enfield has been growing fast and already has the Interceptor, Continental GT and Super Meteor in the market. This growing family will soon include the upcoming Roadster 650. But some enthusiasts are wondering whether it’s really new or just another take on the same old thing. While the Roadster will have a more upright riding position than the Continental GT, it won’t be nearly as laid back as the Interceptor. Rumored to have modern features such as LED lighting and TFT display, it would be different from its siblings. Yet, with the same 648cc parallel-twin engine we’ve already seen, is it enough to make the Roadster stand out in an increasingly crowded segment? The other question is whether Royal Enfield is oversaturating its own market by bringing in too many 650cc models too quickly.
This is definitely not just another 650 twin. For riders who want a more modern, urban bike but aren't all about retro or cruiser, the Roadster fills an empty spot in RE's lineup. It’s a solid daily rider option because of the upright ergonomics and tech upgrades.
