The question is, do the Ashok Leyland Dost Strong do respect their name?
Is the Ashok Leyland Dost Strong really a robust and a durable light commercial vehicle, as we are made to believe? There are many online reports from small business owners and drivers, some of whom praise its toughness, others of whom have had issues. We will delve into the gory details of this popular LCV’s strength and reliability. is it all the things they say it is, or has it just been clever marketing? Tell us what you think about the Dost Strong’s durability, and if you had abused it, or compared it to competitors in its class.
Absolutely! For more than 3 years now, I have been driving a Dost Strong for my small logistics business and it has been a beast. There wasn't any overloading handling problems that I saw, and I didn't see it let me down on rough roads.
It’s OK, but far from ‘strong’ as they say they are. After a year of regular use, it had some suspension issues. I find Tata Intra to be more solid.
Strong for its class, yeah. However, it is still a small commercial vehicle. Expect it to not perform like a heavy duty truck.
Mine's been a mixed bag. It was great for city deliveries, but struggled a bit on long highway runs with a full load. Now, it’s not weak but just average.
The name is a bit of an exaggeration, but not too bad. I have had mine for 2 years and it has held up well considering the abuse that it gets in Mumbai traffic.
It’s pretty strong for what it is. Yes, its certainly not indestructible, but I have physically lifted and carried a site constructed worth of construction material and it has never complained about it. Just don't expect miracles.
The Dost Strong is akin to a tank compared to my old Tata Ace. Maybe not the strongest out there, but definitely an upgrade in durability for me.
It's all relative, isn't it? Strong for a mini truck, sure. However, I have had to replace parts sooner than I would have liked. Decent, but not exceptional.
People expect too much sometimes I think. At its price and in its category, the Dost Strong is plenty tough. Just keep it maintained well and it’ll do very well.
There is no such thing as an indestructible vehicle. Dost Strong has its strengths and its limits. My small farm has had reliable use from it, though I don't overdo it.
