The Kona Electric's infotainment system? How does this compare to newer EVs?

Modern driving experience is incomplete without the infotainment system, more so in electric vehicles, as electric vehicles features range estimation and charging management are integrated. While some (justifiably, as is often the case) have taken issue with the way the Kona Electric's system feels outdated compared to newer EVs with larger screens and more advanced software, the system itself is functional. That has been a source of debate, with some wondering if Hyundai should focus on giving the Kona's tech features a refresh to stay competitive in the quickly changing EV market. For some time now, owners have debated whether the simpler interface is actually more preferable, and whether it is worse in the absence of over the air update and cutting edge features. Is the Kona's infotainment a big weakness for tech savvy buyers or a minor one?

It’s not the fanciest system in the world, but it works. It’s responsive, easy to use, and has all the basic features I need. Not everyone needs a giant Tesla screen.

In my opinion, the Kona's biggest weakness is probably the infotainment. It really feels dated compared to a Polestar, or even the newer Hyundai models. It’s a big miss that there are no over the air updates.

The Kona's simpler interface is actually what I prefer. But some of the new EVs with huge screens and lots of menus are way too distracting while driving. With the Kona I can concentrate on the road.

For basic stuff it's fine, but it lacks some of the cooler EV specific features you get in newer models. Nice things would be things like trip planners with charging stops or more detailed energy usage stats.

At first as a tech geek I was disappointed. After a while of use, I prefer its simplicity honestly. It's snappy, it's reliable and does what I need, without fuss. Sometimes simpler is better.
