The Kia EV5's interior tech compared to other EVs.

Kia claims the EV5 is equipped with a wide variety of interior technology features to help it compete with other electric vehicles in its class. This has a large touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster and many smart connectivity options. Unique elements, such as a rotating central display and customizable ambient lighting, have been included in the interior as well. And because the EV market is notorious for its rapid pace of technological advancement, companies are always one upping each other on software capabilities, user interfaces and cool features. It also begs the question of how Kia's tech offerings stack up against the likes of Tesla's minimalist, but feature rich interiors or competitors like Volkswagen's ID series or Ford's Mach-E. The discussion also encompasses the interplay between physical controls and touchscreen interfaces, the intuitiveness of the user experience, and the vehicle’s long term updatability of the software.

The EV5's tech is really something Kia's stepped up from the last few years. It's nice to see they're not just copying Tesla's giant iPad approach and that rotating display is pretty cool.

Fancy, but I bet it will be a nightmare to use while driving. I’ll take physical buttons for climate control any day.

The tech seems solid, but I think it all comes down to the software. If Kia can get the user interface right and keep it up to date, they may have a winner.

I like the amount of customization options. I like seeing a car you can make interior to your preferences beyond just the dark mode.

It’s still playing catch-up to Tesla, but it’s good. They will always be second best until they can match that seamless phone to car integration.

I actually like Kia's approach. Sometimes, Tesla’s minimalism can be frustrating. A mix of touchscreen and physical controls is nice to have.

In pictures, the tech looks great, but I wonder how it’ll hold up long term. Will it be outdated in a couple of years when the next big thing comes along?

But I'm happy to see an EV with a normal steering wheel instead of a yoke. Sometimes simple is better.

It has nice ambient lighting. Even though it’s small, those small things can really make the interior special.

The over the air update capabilities are interesting to me. If they can keep adding features post purchase like Tesla does, that could be a game changer for them.
