Of course, the Alfa Romeo 8C Spider is a dream car for many an enthusiast, but it has its potential downsides as well. It's not always obvious what owning such a rare and expensive vehicle involves. Amongst some of the drawbacks that could be considered can be maintenance costs and practical considerations. There are some owners out there that might find the attention it attracts themselves a bit overwhelming, and others that might have a hard time with the practicality of a two seater sports car. But there's also the question of reliability — Alfa Romeo has a reputation. So, let’s take a look at what current and potential owners see as the biggest challenges of owning this Italian beauty in their garage.

That guilt of not driving it enough! These are cars to be driven, but with such low production numbers, many of the cars are garaged to preserve value.

Reliability issues. Alfa's got a reputation and although they've improved you're likely to have more problems than you would with a Japanese or German car.

The biggest drawback I can say is that it is not a daily driver. It's a more of a weekend toy, and you need another car for practical use.

The attention. Don't get me wrong, it's cool at first, but it quickly gets old when you can't go anywhere without people swarming the car.

Maintenance costs, hands down. It's a nightmare to find parts for a car that produces so little, and when you do find them, they're really expensive.

The lack of modern tech features is what I don't like for me. Yes, it’s stunning, but the inside seems a little old fashioned relative to newer supercars.

The biggest drawback? If it wasn’t the constant fear of scratching it or getting into a fender bender. I don't drive it regularly because I'd be too scared!
