So how does the X-ADV Special Edition stack up against other "adventure scooters" on the market?

While adventure scooters are not a new concept, the segment is growing, and manufacturers are attempting to combine the convenience of scooters with the capability of adventure bikes. The Special Edition is an attempt from Honda to take the X-ADV to the next level of this category. But compared to the BMW C 400 X, the Yamaha TMAX, or even more traditional adventure bikes, how does it stack up? There are those who argue that the X-ADV Special Edition is a special combination of style and substance that no other offers. But most view it more as style than substance and feel that there are other options that do just as good—or better—a job. I’m certainly interested in this growing section, so can I ask where you see the X ADV Special Edition fitting in the market? Does it offer a niche that nobody else does, or is there a better way to go for an adventure scooter enthusiast?

The X-ADV Special Edition stands alone. In terms of style and capability, none of the other adventure scooters come close. It’s like saying a superhero is like a regular person.

I really do think that the BMW C 400 X is a better allrounder. It might not be as wow as it, but it's more practical day to day and still capable of light off-road.

There is no question you are better off with an Africa Twin if you are looking for a true adventure bike. But the X-ADV is cool; it’s just that it’s an urban warrior, not a true off-roader.

The X-ADV Special Edition I think it serves a special niche. Designed for people who want the convenience of a scooter, the capability of an adventure bike, and head-turning looks. There really aren't any other bikes that check all those boxes.

If you’re basically sticking to pavement, the Yamaha TMAX is the better choice. It is more powerful and has better highway manners. The X-ADV tries to do too much and ends up being a jack of all trades and a master of none.

Being someone who has been down both, I would say that the X-ADV (including the standard version) is more capable off-road than most people give it credit for. That solid base is just that, and the Special Edition simply adds some extra protection and style.

It really can be almost anything. The X-ADV Special Edition is hard to beat if you want something unique that can handle a variety of terrains but is still comfortable in the city. If you’re looking for straight performance in one area, there might be better options.
