So how does the Bullet Trials 500 ride compared to modern retro styled scramblers?

In recent years the motorcycle market has been flooded with retro styled scramblers from all brands that have taken their own interpretation of vintage off road looks and blended with modern technology. But the Royal Enfield Bullet Trials 500 offers something more authentic. Many riders argue about whether Trials 500's riding experience is better than these modern interpretations. At what price does the RE give up modern conveniences and performance for a more genuine classic feel? Or are the newer retro scramblers better balances of old cool and new rideability? In addition to a comparison, this is also a broader look at authenticity vs practicality in motorcycle design and where the expectations of the riders of the retro bike segment have shifted.

It's a whole different animal. The Trials 500 is styled to look old, basically like a modern retro scrambler, but it actually feels old, for better or worse.

I can ride both, and to be honest, the modern scramblers are just easier to live with on a day to day basis. The Trials 500 is cool, but it’s a weekend toy.

The Trials 500 offers that raw mechanical feeling that modern bikes just can’t match. It’s not always comfortable, but it’s not always convenient, and it’s totally engaging.

So I think it’s kind of dependent on what you are looking for. If you're after a modern scrambler that looks the part then a new retro scrambler is the way to go. The Trials 500 is the bike if you want the full vintage experience, quirks and all.

I have owned both and I would say the Trials 500 is more of an acquired taste. Modern scramblers are easy to ride, but this one has so much more character.

Face it, the majority of people who buy these bikes aren’t doing serious off roading. The Trials 500 has a lot more street cred for posing at cafes than any modern retro scrambler.

It's a more immersive experience on the whole, and something that you can feel and the vibrations of the Trials 500. Modern scramblers are great, but they can get a bit sanitized compared to them.
