Should Hyundai bring the Staria to the US market?
The Hyundai Staria has taken the world by storm in many markets, but that doesn’t include the US. The debate has been stoked among car enthusiasts and potential buyers alike over whether Hyundai should bring the Staria to the American market. Minivans dates back a long ways in the US, and recently have begun to fade as SUVs have caught on. But there’s still a minivan diehard fan base and the Staria’s unique style and features could reignite interest in the category. However, introducing a new model to a different market is very costly and fraught with regulatory hurdles. The question also arises whether the Staria would cannibalize sales from Hyundai's existing SUV line up, or the Kia Carnival, already an established player in the US minivan market.
Absolutely! The Staria would change things up in a market that needs more interesting minivan options.
No way. It’s all about SUVs for Americans. The US would have a hard flop for a quirky minivan like the Staria.
The only thing they should be is if they sell a hybrid or electric version. It would really stand out in the US market.
I would love to see it here but I don't think Hyundai will. Maybe they’re scared of competing with the Kia Carnival.
They do, but they need to tweak the design a bit for American tastes. Perhaps we could tone down the front end a bit.
Bring it! We lack variety in our vehicle options. Not everyone is in the market for a cookie cutter crossover.
It's too risky. There are just a few key players in the US minivan market and the Staria wouldn’t be easy to break into.
If the Hyundai Staria were being offered in the U.S. I would purchase one right now, today, to be my primary vehicle. It appears clearly superior to any other minivan currently on sale.
