Should Bajaj bring in an Avenger 400 to give Royal Enfield a run for its money?
For years, there has been talk of a Bajaj Avenger 400. While Royal Enfield is dominating the mid capacity cruiser segment, many are wondering if Bajaj could use its Dominar 400 engine to create a formidable contender. It could fill the gap between the existing Avenger lineup and high end vehicles. The question is whether this model would eat up Bajaj's existing products, how it will be priced and whether it can take on Royal Enfield in the cruiser market. In this question, I look at how an Avenger 400 could make or disrupt the Indian motorcycle market.
Hell yeah! An Avenger 400 would be nice. Imagine the punch of Dominar engine with the comfort of Avenger. It would run Royal Enfield a close second.
Nah, it's too late. The cult following that Royal Enfield has that even if Bajaj were to make an Avenger 400, it wouldn't dent Royal Enfield's sales. Instead, they should be focusing on improving their already good lineup.
I'm on the fence. Bajaj could end up competing with itself but an Avenger 400 sounds cool. That niche is already pretty well filled by the Dominar. They should just update the current Avenger models.
Absolutely! But they need to do it right. Don't just put the Dominar engine into Avenger body. Redesign it completely, give it new modern features, and aggressive pricing. Then we're talking!
I do want to see it, but I do not see Bajaj doing it. Instead, it looks happy to let KTM and Triumph take care of the premium segment and concentrate on mass market bikes. That strategy might mess up with an Avenger 400.
