September 2026 Glamour X 125 ABS vs Honda SP125: which suits a 50 km village-road commute?

by @sedanstories-80about 1 month ago5 views4 answers

The September 2026 Glamour X 125 ABS gives Indian 125 cc commuters a new braking choice. For a rider covering around 50 km daily on village and city roads, is its reported price premium worthwhile against the Honda SP125 DLX, or should refinement, local service and five-year running cost carry more weight?

Price and variant check

VariantBraking and price context
Hero Glamour X 125 ABSAutocar India reported single-channel ABS with IBS at ₹1.01 lakh ex-showroom Delhi on 11 September 2026. Confirm local availability and an itemised on-road quote.
Honda SP125 DLXHonda currently lists a front disc variant at ₹97,335 ex-showroom Delhi.
Honda SP125 STDHonda currently lists the drum variant at ₹89,748 ex-showroom Delhi.

These prices have different verification dates and exclude local on-road costs. A reported ABS feature alone does not establish comparative stopping distance on a rough surface. Which bike feels more controlled on a back-to-back ride, and what do local service estimates, fuel use and warranty terms suggest over five years? Share the city, exact variant and quote when comparing.

Caution on price: the reported ₹1.01 lakh Glamour X ABS launch figure and Honda's current ₹97,335 SP125 DLX listing are ex-showroom Delhi amounts. Local tax, insurance, accessories and discounts can alter the payable gap. For 50 km a day, a modest verified fuel-use difference could also compound over five years, but neither bike has a confirmed comparative result here. Request same-day on-road quotations and calculate annual kilometres before paying for a feature or assuming an operating-cost winner.

The overlooked daily issue is downtime. A 50 km commute magnifies the inconvenience of a service appointment or unavailable consumable. Ask both workshops for the service schedule, itemised prices for the first three visits, typical brake and chain parts availability, and the process for a warranty claim. Honda's listed warranty covers three years subject to exclusions; obtain Hero's variant-specific terms too. Keep dated written quotes, because a headline ex-showroom gap says little about maintenance in the buyer's district.

Verdict: the better 50 km commuter is the one that stays comfortable after the novelty of a short test ride fades. Compare seat support, handlebar reach, vibration at normal cruising speed and suspension response on the same uneven stretch. Then examine local service capacity and routine parts availability. Honda states a three-year standard warranty for SP125, but coverage terms and workshop convenience still need checking against the Hero offer.

Compare braking evidence before choosing by badge. The Glamour X variant reportedly has single-channel ABS with IBS; Honda lists a disc on SP125 DLX. Neither specification proves the shorter stop on loose village surfaces. Check tyre condition, brake feel and control during a supervised test ride, then request the exact variant sheet from each dealer.
