Real world fuel efficiency of Nissan Terra vs its competitors.

Due to the current rising cost of fuel and increasing environmental awareness, many SUV buyers value fuel efficiency very highly. Official fuel consumption figures are given by manufacturers, but real world driving can produce different results. Fuel efficiency of the Nissan Terra has been a hot topic among its owners and potential buyers to which they have reported different fuel consumption under different driving conditions. But these discussions have unfolded with debates on whether Terra can compete with Toyota Fortuner, Ford Everest or Mitsubishi Montero Sport when it comes to fuel economy. Factors like city vs. highway driving, load capacity, and driving style are often part of the conversation, all of which can have a big effect on real world fuel consumption.

It really depends on how aggressive you drive. It will drink fuel if you're heavy on the throttle. If you drive it sensibly it can be fairly economical for its size.

I feel that the Terra is a good compromise. It’s not the most efficient in its class, but it’s far from the worst. With the space and comfort you obtain, the fuel consumption is reasonable.

It's nowhere near what Nissan claims in the real world. In the city, I’m lucky if I get 8 km/l. Honestly, it’s disappointing.

Long highway trips have been pleasantly surprising in the Terra's fuel economy. The biggest problem is when you're in stop and go traffic.

It’s okay, but not great fuel efficiency. On par with its class of SUVs, it's about. I believe the expectations need to be realistic, as it is a big, heavy vehicle.

In city driving, I've found the Terra to be pretty thirsty. I have a friend who has a Fortuner and it's noticeably worse than his. For a modern diesel engine I expected better.

As far as I know, the Terra's fuel economy is pretty good for a car its size. One thing I can say is that in mixed driving, I am averaging about 10–11 km/l which isn’t bad for a seven seater SUV.
