New-car service at a different dealer in India: do free services, warranty and digital records transfer?
Buying a new car from the dealer offering the best quote can leave another authorised workshop much closer for routine service. Current Maruti Suzuki pages confirm online service booking, an authorised-workshop locator and the need to follow prescribed service for warranty, but they do not promise that every selling-dealer benefit transfers. Buyers should separate workshop access from free-service scope, warranty evidence and dealer-only packages.
What should be confirmed before delivery?
| Decision area | Written check |
|---|---|
| Workshop eligibility | Can another authorised workshop book the VIN for the exact scheduled interval? |
| Free service | Does any free-labour or coupon entitlement follow the VIN, and which fluids, parts and jobs remain chargeable? |
| Warranty | Which time/kilometre interval, grace period and job-card evidence apply to this model year? |
| Digital history | Will job cards, invoices, odometer readings and completed-service status appear across dealers? |
| Dealer promises | Who honours pickup/drop, AMC, extended warranty, accessories or goodwill commitments? |
Community discussions show this is a recurring concern, but individual experiences are not a brand-wide rule. What transferred cleanly when you changed authorised workshops, and what should buyers insist on recording before delivery?
