Modern supercars are compared to the Alfa Romeo 8C Spider.

Over a decade old, the Alfa Romeo 8C Spider is now still a head turning, still a passion ignitor for car lovers. Automotive technology, however, has come a long way since then. Today’s supercars pack more oomph, more advanced driver aids and more cutting edge infotainment systems. The 8C Spider's analog driving experience and raw emotion contrast sharply with the digital precision of today's high-performance machines. On the one hand, some say that the purity of it and the connection to the road is lost on more modern supercars, while others point to the better performance and safety features of contemporary supercars. It also makes you question what is more valuable in the supercar world: character, or outright performance.

The 8C is more special. The modern supercars are so good they are almost boring. It keeps you on your toes.

In every way, modern supercars are better than their predecessors, except looks. There is nothing today that can match the beauty of the 8C.

Numbers aren’t everything, but it’s outclassed in every measurable way. What modern cars can't do is replicate the experience of the 8C.

Any modern supercar I’d choose the 8C over. It's slower, sure, but it has that character that you can't even find anymore.

While the 8C is ancient in terms of tech and performance, that’s part of its charm. It reminds me how far we have come.

Today’s supercars would burn the 8C in a track day, but they don’t have its soul. This is a throwback to when driving was as much a feeling as it was a number.

It’s apples to oranges. Modern supercars are tech showcases, but the 8C is all about emotional experience.
